Yeah. Apparently there was some significant structural damage to the pier, so they closed it indefinitely. They say they will investigate how much it will be to fix it, but there are no immediate plans to do so.

It sucks. The guy who ran the little tackle shop down there had to close his doors.

I am crying into my beer as we speak. My nickname there was " son of jumbo". The fellas there took a liking to me and sold me some jigs and gave me some excellent tips. An older gentleman named Chang came up to me once " you suck!You need good jig" and he gave me a few home grown jigs and let me fish next to him. Buckets were filled lol.

There is (were ) a group of old asian dudes that were down there literally every single time I ever went. I called them The Ninjas. You could stand right next to them, use the exact same gear and jigs, watch their every movement and try to copy it exactly, and they would still out-squid me 10-1 every single time.

I never figured out what they were doing differently.

There were a couple old guys I would fish with out of ballard for blackmouth, and the one guy would keep washing his hands with the lemon scented dishsoap before handling bait/flasher/tackle--anything below mainline swivel.  He would outfish the rest of us 10-1 or more.  Even after everyone else started washing with the same soap, he was still catching 10-1.

Nothing like fishing right next to these guys and having them pull out 10 to your 1.
